| The ONLY core-antigen vaccine approved by USDA for use in swine! Feeder Pigs' Performance Benefits from Cross-protective Vaccine
Recent field studies using ENDOVAC-Porci® showed improved feed conversion ratios, decreased mortality, and fewer light weight pigs. More than 34,000 pigs were involved in recent studies on farms in Missouri and Arkansas. Approximately half of the pigs received either one or two doses of ENDOVAC-Porci®. An equal number received no vaccine. Salmonella choleraesuis, Salmonella typhimurium, E. coli and Pasteurella multocida were isolated from necropsy tissues indicating that these Gram negative bacteria were consistently present. ENDOVAC-Porci® reduced the endotoxic effects associated with decreases in production. These field studies further validate the positive effects of the only cross-protective, core-antigen vaccine approved by the USDA for use in swine against Gram negative endotoxemias caused by Salmonella choleraesuis. Questions and Answers What is ENDOVAC-Porci®ENDOVAC-Porci® is a bacterin-toxoid utilizing a new immunological approach for the aid in prevention of endotoxin-mediated diseases caused by Salmonella typhimurium and Salmonella choleraesuis. What makes ENDOVAC-Porci® different from other vaccines?ENDOVAC-Porci® uses a bacterin made from an Re-17 mutagenically derived Salmonella typhimurium. This mutant produces an anti-core antigen antibody which focuses on the cell wall of gram-negative bacteria. Since this cell wall is virtually analogous for all gram-negative bacteria, cross-protection is achieved. Anti-core-antigen antibodies have been shown to prevent the effects of endotoxin-mediated diseases caused by a variety of gram-negative organisms. What is the importance of cross-protection?There are over 2,200 serotypes of Salmonella and there are also many serotypes of E. coli, Haemophilus, Pasteurella, Bordetella and other gram-negative organisms. In the past, protection against more than one serotype would have required a specific antigen to protect against each serotype. Cross-protection provided by ENDOVAC-Porci® allows a single antibody to be effective against endotoxins from various sources. In addition, since bacterial endotoxins cause the clinical signs associated with many gram-negative diseases, anti-endotoxin activity is extremely important. How does ENDOVAC-Porci® actually protect?Since endotoxin is released upon cell death, endotoxemia results in a host of clinical signs and symptoms, including CNS depression, pyrexia, tachypnea, DIC and death. Anti-endotoxin antibodies resulting from R-mutant bacterins are effective in attenuating these signs, leading to decreased morbidity and severity of clinical signs. How is ENDOVAC-Porci® administered?ENDOVAC-Porci® is recommended for a 1ml injection into the musculature of healthy pigs with a second 1ml dose given 10 to 14 days later. What is the shelf life of ENDOVAC-Porci®?ENDOVAC-Porci® currently carries a 36 month shelf-life. Should you ever have any IMMVAC product which is out-of-date, we will replace it at no charge if returned within 90 days of out-of-date. How is ENDOVAC-Porci® supplied?ENDOVAC-Porci® is available in 100 dose vials from authorized distributors through veterinarians.
